The Opportunities in Accreditation

In June I was asked to present at a conference, speakign about the direction of our field. It was impossible NOT to highlight the new accreditation and the impacts.

Attached is the voice recording from the lecture, as well as the prezi and power point that was used in the presentation.

The link here connects the the audio file of the lecture. Have listen!

There is a link to the PechaKucha used at the beginning of the lecture.

This prezi can be found clicking the link above

The take home messages:

The National Accreditation is an opportunity to identify imbalances between time/focus on content in class and the percentage it is represented on the exams. (Or if competencies are missed entirely.)

It is also an opportunity to review DACUMS or core competencies vs. the content we prefer to talk about, that when reviewed, may or may not directly support the competencies we are obligated to provide.

At the closing of the lecture, I asked participants to reach under their chair, and remove the page taped there. It was a lesson plan, using the coding in our accreditation competencies document as an example I hoped was helpful.

Enjoy!
